admeritia provides consultancy and security engineering services for clients in an OT related environment. They focus on a function and risk based approach to build OT security from within and from an engineers perspective.


THALES NDEC - NATIONAL DIGITAL EXPLOITATION CENTRE

The National Digital Exploitation Centre (NDEC) is an exciting collaboration between Thales, Welsh Government and the University of South Wales. A partnership focusing on digital and cyber security project delivery, education and research. Supporting local and regional businesses, schools and individuals in their digital endeavours, helping to position Wales as a global player in the tech industry.

Radiflow

Radiflow and Awen have a partnership to provide detailed OT asset visibility with Dot, and data-driven risk management with CIARA.


OTCOnnect - Industrial Cyber security

OTconnect offers OT monitoring, training, assessments and network segregation services, making use of Awen’s innovative software solutions in their offerings.


CIPHER

Cipher’s mission is to simplify digital security for their clients, founded with the objective to simplify the perception of complexity surrounding cybersecurity problems and solutions.

Awen partners with Cipher to bring OT cyber capabilities to their service offering in Saudi Arabia and the surrounding area.


GCH Test & Computer Services - Network & Security Services

GCH have been providing network and security solutions to the UK market since 1993. With their experience they offer analytic and consultancy services as well as supply specialist leading edge analysis, test and performance tools for Security, Storage, Network and Cloud technologies. They have become well known in the PCIe & NVMe testing space, and are now offering OT Cyber Security capabilities to the British market using Awen’s software solutions.


BAR ASSOCIATES - Defence Sector Specialists

BAR Associates bring experience, expertise, and direct support to realise strategic value for clients who have applicability in the defence and security sectors.

Awen and BAR have been working together since 2018, exploring innovation and sales routes-to-market within the military and wider defence sector.


FRANKFURT SOLUTIONS - IOT CONSULTING & TRAINING

Frankfurt Solutions is a consultancy and training business providing organisations with risk analyses and assistance on the implementation of secure development life cycles and architectures. They specialise specifically on IoT and IIoT environments.

Shareholders

Jules Farrow-Lesnianski - Cofounder, Shareholder, Director, CEO

Jules joined Awen Collective in August 2018, served as our CTO 2018-2023, and is now our Chief Executive Officer.

His professional background is in IT management and consultancy, including a previous role of Head of IT for cyber-security company, Darktrace. He holds a BSc (hons) in Computing Information Systems from the University of Bath and an MBA.


Daniel Lewis - Cofounder, Shareholder, Director

Daniel's professional background is in software engineering and data consultancy. He was trained in entrepreneurship by the DCMS Academic Startups Initiative, the IoT Accelerator Wales and Tech Nation Cyber 1.0.

His academic background from the University of South Wales and the University of Bristol is primarily in artificial intelligence (including data science) and secondarily in cyber-physical security & incident analysis.


SFC Capital - Shareholder

SFC is a leader in the UK's early stage investment world, providing seed capital and support to promising British startups. By combining an award-winning angel syndicate with their own seed investment funds, they have created a unique model that allows business angels to invest in high-potential startups either directly or through a diversified portfolio approach curated and managed by their team.


Ian Merricks - Shareholder

With 24 years working entrepreneurially, now specialising in investment, M&A, turnarounds / profit improvement. Ian Merricks aims to make a real impact on the industries he touches, to create best of breed businesses and returns.

Paul Dennis - Director, Shareholder, Executive Chairman

Paul is an angel investor and experienced senior executive within the industrial automation and power industry. He has been on the Awen Collective board since May 2021, was our CEO 2022-2023 and now holds the post of Executive Chairman.


TIIN CAPITAL - Shareholder

TIIN Capital has many years of experience in supporting technology companies with capital, knowledge and network. In 2018 TIIN Capital launched its 6th Venture Capital Fund with a focus is on early-stage companies and scale-ups, active in Cybersecurity and IoT Security solutions, the Dutch Security TechFund.


Development Bank of Wales - Shareholder

The Development Bank of Wales was set up by the Welsh Government to support the economy of Wales by making it easier for businesses to get the finance needed to start up, strengthen and grow.

Tom O’Brien - Advisor / External CFO

Reinout van der Meulen - Non-Executive Director

Reinout vander Meûlen is an investment Manager at TIIN Capital. He has been advising Awen since 2021 and joined the board as a Non-Executive Director in July 2022. Reinout has extensive experience and expertise in product portfolio strategy and software and hardware development processes. Reinout has also been involved in managing multidisciplinary teams, stakeholder management and recording Intellectual property. In short, all things that are part of expanding a startup into an internationally operating growth company. Reinout joined TIIN Capital In 2019 . He mainly focuses on scouting, assessing and supervising the startups.


Robin King - Strategic Business AdVisor

Robin is a Strategic Business Advisor to Awen Collective, with a background as a sales-focused business manager with specialism within the Cyber Security market. He has held senior roles within a range of companies leading the delivery of solutions and services into a range of public and private sector markets, notably the Defence and Security sectors in both the UK and overseas. He has worked with IBM, Computer Associates, QinetiQ and has held both Sales and Marketing Director and CEO positions with private equity backed security software technology specialists, and is currently CEO at BAR Associates.

Tom is the consultant Chief Financial Officer for Awen Collective, and one of the founding Directors of Lime Finance. Prior to this, Tom gained experience at UHY Hacker Young advising clients on all areas of commercial and corporate finance and was acquisition director at HLN Group. During his time with HLN, Tom led the firm through five acquisitions in five years, helping develop HLN into a multi-discipline advisory group and a national business with offices throughout the UK. In addition to founding Lime Corporate Finance, Tom is a business coach on the Welsh Government Accelerated Growth Programme.


Jessica Leigh Jones MBE - Advisory Board member

Jessica is a multi-award-winning engineer and entrepreneur. She is Co-Founder and CEO of iungo Solutions, a technology start-up that develops immersive learning experiences for business and educational clients. Jessica is Chair of the Centre for Digital Public Services in Wales. She is Vice Chair of Wales' largest awarding organisation WJEC CBAC, and a Non-Executive Director of the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education in England.


Chris Harrop OBE - Advisory Board member

Chris is Group Director of Sustainability at Marshalls plc, the market leading supplier of hard landscaping products. At Marshalls Chris has helped transform the company into a leading sustainable business, winning numerous awards for commitment to the environment and supply chain ethics, including Business in the Community Awards for Excellence.

Chris is Chairman of Made in Britian. His qualifications include a BA Hons Business Studies, an MBA, several professional qualifications and is a Chartered Director of the Institute of Directors and a Chartered Marketer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.


Julie Gillis CB - Advisory Board member

Julie is another advisor with extensive experience of the Public Sector, including leading frontline operations; delivering complex change programmes and managing major portfolios. Particular strengths in: transforming the performance of the organisation and individual teams; building networks and creating enduring and productive relationships at all levels.


Prof. Pete Burnap - Technical Advisor

Pete is the current director and head of Cardiff’s NCSC/EPSRC Academic Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Research. He directs the Airbus Centre of Excellence in Cyber Security Analytics at Cardiff University, and is leading AI for cybersecurity research at Airbus DTO on a part-time secondment basis. Pete has been involved in grants in worth in excess of £23m, leading large awards from EPSRC, ESRC and industry on the topic of cyber security analytics - the fusion of AI, Cybersecurity and Risk.

NATIONAL CYBER SECURITY CENTRE (NCSC)

Awen was part of the Smart Cities cohort of the NCSC Cyber Accelerator in 2021. The NCSC supports the most critical organisations in the UK, the wider public sector, industry, SMEs as well as the general public.


Google UK (Immersion Program)

Google for Startups UK brings the best of Google's products, connections, and best practices to enable startups to build something better. The UK Immersion Cohort 2020 brought a 12 week programme designed to bring the best of Google and the London startup ecosystem to tech companies from all over the United Kingdom.

Awen are graduates of the Google for Startups UK Immersion 2020 programme.

Technology Connected is a network of technology organisations whose members design, develop, manufacture or integrate electronic and software technologies.


The Percy Hobart Fellowship

Globalwelsh

GlobalWelsh’s mission is to help Wales prosper, to bring about new connections, opportunities and ideas that will enrich the lives of Welsh people all over the world. Awen has been a member since December 2019.


Cyber First

Awen has been supporting the CyberFirst scheme of the NCSC since January 2020. CyberFirst are developing the UK's next generation of cyber professionals through student bursaries, courses for 11-17 year olds, competitions and university-level schemes.

CyberASAP

CyberASAP, funded by DCMS in collaboration with Innovate UK & KTN, helps academics in UK universities commercialise their cyber security ideas.

Awen’s cofounder, Daniel, was trained in entrepreneurship & business in the first cohort of CyberASAP in 2017. Now a successful entrepreneur, Daniel is an advisor and mentor to subsequent cohorts of the programme.

Awen was part of the first cohort of Tech Nation Cyber in 2019, a scale-up programme run by Tech Nation.

CyberExchange

CyberExchange provides a platform to the UK’s Cyber Security Companies to access the latest opportunities and events, from both industry and Government. It is run by DCMS and techUK.
